The NSMC is running a one-day training session on value for money in behaviour change on 29 September. Delegates wishing to take advantage of an early bird discount must book before 12 August 2011.

Since no organisation can afford behavioural interventions that are not cost-effective, The NSMC has developed tools for assessing value for money. Developed with the Department of Health, NICE and leading health economists, the downloadable Excel tools can be tailored by local teams to fit their own challenges. The tools are designed to calculate the value for money of smoking, breastfeeding, alcohol, bowel cancer and obesity interventions.

The course will cover:

  • What is meant by Value for Money
  • Methods and calculations behind the tools
  • Tailoring the tools to local population data
  • Understanding your results

The training is for practitioners working on health issues from local authorities, NHS and other public sector bodies, NGOs, academics and agencies.
