NSMC Director John Bromley calls for the development of social marketing competences across the NHS, in a new video by the HSJ.

Part of the coverage celebrating this year's HSJ Awards, the video also features Esther Trenchard-Mabere of Best Social Marketing Project winners NHS Tower Hamlets. She explains that they were able to overcome barriers to engaging the population in what is one of the most deprived boroughs in the country.

She goes on to point out that carrying out research with local women enabled the NHS team to see through their eyes. This approach meant that the team could address the barriers around service and screen invitations, making it easier for women to go and get screened for breast cancer.

Videos of the other award winners can also be viewed on the HSJ homepage.
