Encouraging and supporting patients with LTC’s to be more physically active: Qualitative research

NHS London commissioned this research in order to develop an understanding what they can offer health professionals in exchange for supporting their patients, in terms of personal information and advice, to become more active and how NHS London can make it easier and quicker for them to do so effectively.

 

Specifically the research was commissioned to;

Reducing obesity among students aged 16-24: Programme evaluation

The social marketing objectives of the programme were to achieve:

  • A halt in the year-on-year rise in overweight and obesity levels within16- to 24-year-olds
  • Movement of the target group from sedentary behaviour to more active behaviour
  • Exchange of unhealthy food for quick and healthy food options

The objective of this evaluation was to understand the effectiveness of the interventions that were implemented to achieve these social marketing objectives.

Breastfeeding: Insight report

The main objective for this research was to identify the most appropriate target audience for the proposed campaign and to explore the attitudes and behaviours of those least likely to breastfeed.

  • To gain insight in to Barnsley residents who buy and sell cheap and illicit tobacco
  • To explore attitudes to buying and selling cheap and illicit tobacco
  • To measure the scale of the cheap and illicit tobacco problem in Barnsley
  • To clearly identify and define market segments within the target audience
  • To identify potential triggers, motivators and barriers to behaviour change

Teen pregnancy: Qualitative research with teenage mothers

The main objective of the research was to explore how young women responded to finding out they were pregnant, who they talked to, who supported them, and how their behaviours were influenced by local services, including access to sex education and contraception advice.

Specific objectives were to explore:

Smoking cessation services for R+M male workers: Exploratory research

  • Explore the distinct needs, attitudes and behaviours of the target group, and barriers and motivators to their accessing of services.
  • Identify current gaps in service provision.
  • Make recommendations on the future develop of smoking cessation services in Sheffield, and specifically:
  • Recommend a plan for a successful and sustainable local social marketing strategy, responsive to client needs.
